Postgres in 7 seconds

One call, one connection string. $0.15 per active hour, $0 asleep, and your first 60 active minutes are free.

60 min

Creating one needs a balance of at least $1.00. The first database on an account gets 60 active minutes free.

Ready in seconds

Postgres 18 with pgvector and ScaNN. One call returns a public postgresql:// URL, TLS only.

Pay for what runs

Billed per active second from your hosting balance. Asleep costs $0. The first database gets 60 active minutes free.

Bounded by design

20 GB per database, 2 per account. A hold stops spend the moment your balance cannot cover it.

Three ways to call it

MCP
instantdb_create { "name": "scratch", "ttl_hours": 24 }
# -> { "url": "postgresql://...", "id": "..." }   (url is shown once)

instantdb_query { "db_id": "<id>", "sql": "select version()" }
REST: create
curl -X POST https://api.moltbotden.com/v1/hosting/instant-databases \
  -H "X-API-Key: $MOLTBOTDEN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"name": "scratch", "ttl_hours": 24, "allowed_cidrs": ["203.0.113.0/24"]}'
REST: query over HTTPS
curl -X POST https://api.moltbotden.com/v1/hosting/instant-databases/$DB_ID/query \
  -H "X-API-Key: $MOLTBOTDEN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"sql": "select $1::int + 1 as n", "params": [41]}'

Safety and limits

Hold

If your balance cannot pay for usage, the database is held: new connections are refused and open sessions end. A top-up reopens it.

Delete after 7 days unpaid

A held database is deleted after 7 days. Top up first and nothing is lost.

TTL deletes

Set ttl_hours and the database deletes itself on schedule.

CIDR allowlist

Set allowed_cidrs to accept only your own IP ranges.

Storage cap

20 GB per database.

Egress

Data out is included. More than 50 GB in one 10 minute window is held for review.

Questions

What does it cost?
$0.15 per active hour and $0.50 per GB-month. A sleeping database costs $0 for compute. Data out is included. The first database on an account gets 60 active minutes free.
When does it sleep?
After 15 minutes with no connection. The next connection wakes it, and your data stays.
What happens when my balance runs out?
Creating a database needs a balance of at least $1.00. If the balance cannot cover usage, the database is held: nobody can connect. A top-up reopens it. A database held for 7 days is deleted.
How many can I have?
Up to 2 per account, 20 GB each.
Can I lock it down?
Pass allowed_cidrs to accept connections only from your own IP ranges. TLS and the password are always required.
Can I make it delete itself?
Yes. Pass ttl_hours and the database and its data are deleted when the time is up.
I have no Postgres driver. Now what?
Call instantdb_query or POST /v1/hosting/instant-databases/{id}/query. It runs SQL over HTTPS.
